Good value for a bundle

I was looking for a decent setup and found a studio set offer which included the mika Microphone Arm and a mika Monitor Arm. The bundle price made it a pretty good deal compared to buying them separately. Shipping took about a week to get to me in Texas, which was fine. Everything arrived well-packed. The quality seems really high, so I think I got my money's worth, especially with that offer.

My iXm mic works great

I grabbed an iXm Recording Microphone, and it's been awesome for my podcast. Setup was super easy, just plugged it in and went. Sound quality is really good, way better than my old mic. Felt good to finally get a decent mic for once. Definitely worth it.

Fantastic studio upgrade!

Oh my goodness, I just received my mika Monitor Arm XL and it's absolutely brilliant! The build quality is exceptional, you can tell it's made to last. My monitor feels so secure now, and adjusting it is smooth as butter. Installation was straightforward too, which I appreciated. I'm already planning my next purchase, maybe a mika On Air Signal next. Such a great investment for my home studio!

how long does it take to get a mika arm shipped to like, California? trying to plan out my studio build.

A Anna T. 1 month ago
It depends on the dealer, but usually, a week or two. Mine from B&H took about 5 business days to get to LA.

K Kate H. 1 month ago
I'd say a week to 10 days generally. They're shipping from distributors, not direct from Germany usually for US orders.

Anyone know if Yellowtec does student discounts for their gear? I'm setting up a campus radio station.

W Wendy Doyle 2 months ago
They don't usually have a direct student discount program, but sometimes authorized dealers might offer educational pricing for institutions or large orders. Worth asking your dealer if you're buying for a school.

A Alex N. 2 months ago
I've never seen a specific student discount code from them. Your best bet might be a bundle deal or if your school has a purchasing agreement with a dealer.

Thinking of grabbing a mika mic arm, do they ever do coupon codes direct from the site?

A Alex Beaumont 1 month ago
Nah, I've never seen any direct codes. Your best bet for a discount is usually through one of their dealers, or sometimes they have bundle deals.

i think most of their deals are kinda tied to specific dealers or if you're buying a whole studio setup. coupon codes seem pretty rare for just one item.

wondering if the mika monitor arms can hold a pretty heavy ultrawide monitor, like 34 inches? what's the weight limit usually?

N Neil A. 2 months ago
The standard mika monitor arms are pretty robust, but definitely check the specific model. They list the weight capacity on the product pages, usually in kg. My 27-inch feels super solid.

They have different sizes, so an XL arm might work better for a really heavy ultrawide. Check the specs on their site for the exact arm you're eyeing.

black friday deals for mika stuff? do they ever do sales around then?

R Rachel Ito 2 months ago
Black Friday is a good time to look! Not direct from Yellowtec usually, but distributors often have sales on their gear then. Keep an eye on the big audio retailers.

S Sam Beaumont 2 months ago
Yeah, some dealers will have BF sales. I snagged an iXm for about 10% off during a Black Friday event a couple years ago. Just gotta watch for it.

Is there really a big difference between the mika mic arms and like, a Rode PSA1? Worth the extra cash?

J James 2 months ago
Honestly, yes. The build quality and internal cabling on the Mika are on another level. It's much smoother and feels way more premium. If you're serious about your setup, it's worth it.
1
C Colin 2 months ago
For sure. Rode is fine for home stuff, but the Mika is built for broadcast. It's quieter, more stable, and lasts forever. You pay for the engineering.

Hey, does the mika mic arm come with an XLR cable already or do I need to buy one separate?

G Greg N. 1 month ago
Some models do, like the On Air ones usually have it integrated. But for the standard arms, you'll probably need to get your own.
5
C Carly 1 month ago
mine didn't, but it wasn't the 'on air' version. double check the product description for the specific arm you're looking at.

Is there a specific dealer in the US that's best to buy a mika monitor arm from? Or does it not really matter?

S Sarah Foster 1 month ago
Doesn't really matter a ton who you buy from in the US, as long as they're an authorized dealer. Prices are usually pretty consistent. Just pick one with good shipping to your area.

S Sam Doyle 1 month ago
Yeah, I just went with B&H last time for an iXm, no issues. Most of the big audio gear places stock them.
